Happy Halloween

Happy haunted Halloween, everyone!

We all know how easy it is to gather up items for Halloween decorating. My advice on minimizing your Halloween clutter is to choose wisely and sparingly when purchasing items, and opt to borrow or rent instead whenever you can. Most Halloween decorating items are made out of plastic and are only used once a year, and for this reason alone we should think about how much decoration your house really needs and whether you really want to use up precious storage space on that plastic tombstone or talking skull. Take another look at The Story of Stuff if you need a reminder of why we should be careful and not get carried away when making purchases.  A pumpkin or two is all the decoration your home really needs—traditional, classic, biodegradable and great for your garden—and you can roast and eat the pumpkin seeds too!

Costumes are a wonderful part of Halloween.  When I was little, we had a costume box—a large trunk full of all our bits and pieces for dressing up. Whenever it got too full, we had to give away or throw out a few things to make room if we wanted something new. This kept the number of costumes we had under control and stored safely in a trunk, plus they were accessible all year for playing dress-up. A good solid costume trunk is worth the investment, and will give you a permanently manageable storage solution.

For grown-ups, costume rental is your most clutter-free option.  Rented costumes can be of much better quality than most of us could afford to buy or make, and you don’t have to store them.  If you’re in Vancouver, the best place to rent a costume is www.carolscostumecorner.com.

I wish you a treat-filled and clutter-free Halloween!

I really like the way the website is laid out. I think it is outstanding. If you dont mind me asking, what template is your site? Thank you.
