Vacation Time: Organizing your Carry-On Bag
It’s been another warm and sunny week in Vancouver! Last week we gave you tips on how to pack smart with a checklist. This week, we’ll help you pack your carry-on or day-pack.
Carry-On Tip #1: Organize your Documents. You will probably be printing out many itineraries, receipts, and boarding passes for your trip. Purchase an inexpensive pocket folder, or duo-tang. Within this folder consider organizing your documents in the order you will be needing them and/or use labeled dividers to separate itineraries, tickets, location information, and your emergency contact lists
Carry-On Tip #2: Keep your Passport and ID handy. Chances are you’ll need to show your passport several times on your vacation. Keep it in a smaller, outside pocket of your carry-on, so you can easily get it out when requested.
Look into purchasing or using a passport holder to make it easier to identify in your bag. You can often purchase these at passport photo shops.
Carry-On Tip #3: Always carry your local currencies in your carry-on. Never pack your money in your checked luggage. Even if you don’t intend on spending any cash, carry some with you just in case, and keep it on your person.
Carry-On Tip #4: Carry a few essentials. You never know if your luggage will end up going to LA when you’re in Toronto. Prepare for the unexpected by carrying an extra set of clothes, toiletries, and any medications in your carry-on.
Now you have your luggage and carry-on packed. Next week, we’ll give you some tips about planning your next vacation, the organized way!
