Vacation Time: Pack Smart with a Checklist

Summer is practically here, it’s going to sunny most of the week, and many of us may be thinking about going away. Packing can take some of us hours, but with a little organization, we can cut that time significantly.

Packing Tip #1: Make a list. Write down everything you will need, starting with the basics (ie: toiletries, passports, tickets…etc). Check off each item as you pack it. To save you time for your next vacation, create a packing list of items that you will need no matter where you go. Store this list somewhere safe and bring it out for each vacation.

Packing Tip #2: Keep your bag organized with bags. Use drawstring or zip-lock bags to sort similar items. This works great for small items that can get easily lost including toiletries, socks, and underwear.

Packing Tip #3: Pack only the necessities. Don’t pack 14 shirts for a 7-day vacation. Research factors like current weather and appropriate dress codes and only pack what you will need. However, even if you’re going to a sunny warm destination, pack at least one warm outfit, just in case.

Packing Tip #4: Keep the most important items in your carry-on or day-pack. We all know that anything can happen when you’re travelling, especially lost luggage. Always keep a change of clothes, all your travel documents, and your passport.

Next week we’ll have some tips for organizing your carry-on bag and travel documents so save you time and stress! Stay tuned!
